One of the most notable advances in assisted reproduction in recent years has been ultra fast freezing of oocytes –vitrification-, which prevents the formation of ice crystals that used to damage the cell in conventional freezing.
This technique, which became operational in Spain in mid 2007 and was implemented at our center in 2008, has managed to significantly increase survival (96.9%), fertilization (80.6%), optimal quality embryos (64 %) and pregnancy (45%) rates of frozen eggs. The rates are similar to those of non-frozen eggs.
Para For all these groups of women, oocyte freezing is a way to retain a realistic chance of being mothers.
Oocyte Oocyte Vitrification
Women who want to delay motherhood for professional or personal reasons. The most fertile age for women, 20 to 35, in many cases coincides with their personal development or work positioning. After 35 years of age, fertility rates fall rapidly and from 40 onwards they fall sharply, in many cases pregnancy cannot be achieved with their own eggs.
Oncology patients, to prevent infertility caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments. The advances in oncology treatments have achieved notable increases in survival rates among patients and therefore it is now important to consider quality of life after overcoming the disease. In many cases, radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatments cause permanent sterility when performed in women of childbearing age. It is important to consult with your oncologist and, where it is advisable, to use the technique of vitrification of oocytes before treatment, to maintain the ability to have children later.
Clinical situations with risk of premature ovarian failure: Endometriosis, Autoimmune diseases, Collagen diseases, Previous cases of early menopause in the family…
We will have an initial consultation to explain all the concepts. An individualized study will be carried out before the start of the treatment, the chances of success will depend primarily on the age of the patient and the state of her ovaries.
The first two phases of a cycle of In Vitro Fertilization (will be carried out (stimulation and ovarian puncture). To subsequently move on to vitrification.
